Mark teaches milonguero-style, close-embrace, social tango dancing.
Monday
Milonguero Close-Embrace Technique and Practice
- 7:30 - 9:00 PM - instruction (all levels)
- 9:00 - 10:00 PM - Practica
- Location:
Murray Arts Center, (Main Ballroom), 4868 S State St, SLC, UT 84107
- Cost: $10, includes class and practice
- Focus is on partner connection, musicality and
navigation--developing skills that enable one to dance tango,
milonga, and vals comfortably in a close embrace at crowded venues
with a variety of partners.
-
Class generally runs from 7:40 pm to about 9:00 pm and is followed
by practice until 10:00 pm.
-
Each class begins with relatively simple exercises and figures and
then progresses to more involved concepts. Partner change is frequent.
The class is ongoing and newcomers are welcome, however persons with no
previous tango dance experience are likely to feel overwhelmed. It is
suggested that new people take the introductory series of tango classes
offered in Midvale on Fridays or offered by Nicholas on Wednesdays or
offered by any other tango instructor in the area before attempting to
participate in this class.
Friday
Argentine Tango Basics (in cooperation with other teachers)
- 7:30 - 8:30 PM - instruction (all levels)
- 8:30 - 10:30 PM - Practica
- Location:
7677 Main St, Midvale, UT 84047 (Academia de Danza. ~700 West)
-
This is a cooperative introductory/beginning-level series of classes. The class has a syllabus and systematically presents a series of topics that introduce basic aspects of social tango and create a conceptual foundation on which students can subsequently build if they wish to pursue further study of the dance. A copy of the class outline and sample CD of tango music that can be used to practice at home may be obtained at the class. When finished, the eight-week series of topics begins again and repeats itself. Students are welcome to enter the series at any point and are welcome to repeat the series as many times as they'd like. No previous dance experience necessary. Partner is not necessary but suggested.
-
Cost for the class is $10 and includes the two-hour practica immediately following the class. (Students with current student ID as well members of Wasatch Tango Club who have been dancing tango for more than one year, can take the class and stay for the practica for $5) Cost for the practica alone, for persons who do not take the class, is $5, regardless of experience or arrival time.
-
One need not register for the class in advance but can simply show up and pay at the door.
