Mountain Milonga is the signature annual event of the Wasatch Tango Club with great floor, great vibe, and mindblowing asado. This summer, inspired by wildly successful retreats of Burning Tango and Saltwater Tango, we’ve turned it into an all-weekend event. Our event is a bit of a marathon, a bit of a workshop, and a lot of a communion of tango friends.

Tango friends, come join us (and our fellow tangueros from 10 states) up at 9,000 ft elevation in the historic 1929 Wasatch Mountain Club Lodge! 3 days of tango in a rustic ski lodge up in Utah’s Wasatch Mountain Range (only 45 minutes from the Salt Lake City airport).

We expect to have 8 milongas, a musicality workshop by Grisha Nisnevich, a technical workshop by John Miller, a jam session, food including (of course) the famous asado night, plus massages, yoga, a secret swimming hole hike, an edible mushroom hunting class, a fishing derby, a guerrilla dance @ Silver Lake boardwalk, and more. Guest DJs Grisha Nisnevich, John Miler, Alexei Nuokest, Joni Roco + still a chance for additional DJs to join, please inquire)

The early-bird registration discounts have expired, and the event is more than 70% full, but you can still join in for a very competitive price of $110 including all dances, all scheduled classes, and all meals. For additional $40, you will be able to reserve limited dorm-style lodging on site for two nights (“bunk-in pass”, $150, attic cots with mattresses and covers but no bed sheets). There are, of course, “comfort options”  for off-site lodging too, including rooms and shared ski chalets within walking distance (see FAQ for details)

What about a la carte pre-purchased or drop-in passes? We can’t offer any a la carte passes for the specific milongas or classes at this time, because there is a possibility that the Lodge will fill to capacity with the full-pass holders at some or all of the nights. We suspect that Friday events may remain available for the drop-in guests, but Saturday and especially Saturday night may end up being 100% full. If you’re eager to join our Saturday events, the Grand Milonga with Orquesta Regional, the Grand Asado grill dinner party, the classes, the Alternative and Guerrilla dances … then we implore you to please consider purchasing the full pass now!

We are also looking forward to providing some extras not included in the pass:
– Jesica’s massages and a special class of massage techniques for pairs;
– additional optional instruction hours for the beginners
– help with carpooling and transfers from the valley
Also super-excited about an optional two-day extension of the retreat for the craziest of our attendees, going to visit Utah Natl parks from a base at Mystic Hot Springs (with lodging in refurbished school buses and soaking under the starlight). Read more about it here.

We’ve signed up part-time volunteers for the event (rewarded by 75% off passes), but please do not hesitate to contact us to be put on volunteer waiting list!

See you there!
