About Mystic Milonga

What would you think about staying for two more days of fun, dance, and sightseeing after the weekend of Salt Lake Tango Fest is over? Monday + Tuesday (Memorial Day May 27 and May 28) ?

What would you think about soaking in natural hot springs under the stars, sleeping in a refurbished vintage school bus in the shadow of a mountain range, and hiking between the outlandish formations of Goblin Valley, and into the sandstone narrows of Sun Rafael Swell or Bryce Canyon?

Mystic Milonga has been an annual tradition since 2014. So many tangueros who have been there want to do it again, so many new people want to join. So in 2018, we decided to go to Mystic twice! (Not only after Mountain Milonga, but also for Memorial Day festival). We booked all  restored XIX c. cowboy log cabins, all hippy-style school buses including the one-of-a-kind Nature Bus (pictured above), and 3 rooms in Mars Hostel at Mystic Hot Springs, a weird and enchanted place in just 2 and half hours drive South from Salt Lake. The arrangement comes with an evening of tango in a rented town pavilion with its dance-tested painted concrete floor, a grill dinner party, and of course unlimited soaking in the pools and oversize tubs of Mystic. We also tour Fremont Indian rock art on Monday.

To sign up now, please make a deposit of $75 to cover reservations of lodging and city park, and food. The final total cost shouldn’t be noticeably higher – it will be calculated after we divvy up the beds at Mystic (it’s up to $30 extra for log cabin or “Mars” lodging or any single-occupancy units) and the seats in the cars, and split the carpooling gas costs and the park passes costs.
So please also let us know if you want to bring your own vehicle and how many people can it fit, if you have an interagency annual National Park pass, if you are looking for a bed for two or a bed for one, and if log cabin’s preferred. We will calculate fair carpooling expenses and finalize the trip, closing the registration when we get 4 cars full of people.
