Liz Haight – Milonguero Style Workshop Nov 16-18 2018

The Heart of Milonguero-Style Tango w/ Liz Haight & Bob Bern

bio_photo_liz-haightLiz Haight and Robert (Bob) Bern will be presenting five progressive workshop sessions during the weekend. These classes are designed to deepen participant understanding and comfort with on-body Milonguero-style dancing. The classes will focus on skills that provide balance, confidence, and clarity of movement in close embrace, as well as on the internal quality of the dance: The quality of connection, creating in partnership, and exploration of internal energy, intimacy and freedom. Classes will use “milonga friendly” vocabulary in a context aimed to inspire, explore and deepen one’s own authentic dance. These workshop sessions are sequential and build on the previous sessions. Participants are encouraged to engage all workshop sessions to obtain the most value from Liz’s visit.

Liz-Haight-teaching

Liz Haight has been teaching social dance since 1997. Since 2003, she has focused on Milonguero style Argentine tango teaching nationally in festivals and weekend workshops as well as at home in Santa Fe, NM. Liz owns Two Moon Tango, a dance studio dedicated to preserving the essence of Milonguero style tango – the tango of the traditional dance halls of Buenos Aires. In 2009 she began establishing Encuentros in North America to further support Milonguero style tango in the US. In this style, she has studied with many Milongueros, but most extensively with Ricardo Vidort, Alicia Pons, and Osvaldo & Coca Cartery. Liz’s love of people, her technical ability in both leading and following, and her passion for the energetic and emotional elements of the dance have led her to developing effective ways of teaching not only the physical aspects of tango, but also the more elusive, transcendent qualities of the dance. Her exploratory form of teaching allows for a visceral experience of tango as a form of communication, creativity, profound connection and the joy of self-expression.

Bob Bern has been a student of Liz’s since 2003 and has been assisting her since 2015. He has also studied extensively with Ricardo Vidort and Alicia Pons. Bob is a visual artist. His text based drawings are an exploration of peoples complex and personal stories with healthcare and illness. He is a gifted dancer and has a deep understanding of and commitment to the creative process and its role in Milonguero-style tango. Both Liz and Bob are available for a limited number of private lessons while they are with us. Persons interested in scheduling private instruction with either Liz or Bob should contact Liz directly at 505-699-0106.
