Our old friends, the husband-and-wife team of Andrew Bergeron and Carmen Maret form a multi-talented flute and guitar duo called Folias Duo that specializes in danceable tango music.
Here’s what Lee Passarella of Audiophile Audition writes about their album Tango and Snow: “My reaction to Tango and Snow convinces me even more that I’m not so averse to the tango as I am to the tango done up in black tie and tails. I’m much happier with tangos done by modest performing forces, tangos that remember their dance hall roots.”

TANGO BIO

Founded by flutist Carmen Maret and guitarist Andrew Bergeron, the Folias Duo has played their own golden era tango arrangements for milongas since 2002 in over forty tango communities throughout the United States, Chile and Argentina, including the Burning Tango Festival (2016, 2017, 2018), the A-B-QTango Festival (2018), the Albuquerque Tango Society, the Madison Tango Society, Esquina Tango Austin, Quantum Tango, Decir Tango, Wasatch Tango Club, Tango Berretín and at festivals such as the Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, and the Atlin Music Festival. Carmen Maret began dancing tango and performing tango with the Kansas City based group Tango Lorca in 2001. She also studied ethnomusicology as a graduate student at Michigan State University and wrote her master’s thesis on the Michigan Argentine Tango Club. Maret and Bergeron’s original tango compositions and arrangements have been recorded on six albums available through the Folias Music website. foliasmusic.com
